School House Clock
Gummed up gears
antique
school house
clock
pendulum stopped
hourly chimes
silenced
arms of time
stilled
upon face
clock sits
waiting
to be wound
brass key
custom made
rests on shelf
untouched
simple insert
and twist
restores life
again
yet
there it still
sits
my gears are
gummed
have lost my
key
clock’s face
can continue
to stare.
